Reflections
As I gather my thoughts to compose a reflection on this class and what significance it lent to me in my journey as a scholar and a teacher, my first thought is insightful. All of the modules were organized to clearly present a lesson, an activity and an assessment of comprehension through an exercise. The material contained in each module elevated my skills and knowledge in designing a course with substance.
Rather than assessing my comprehension in an exam, I was challenged each week to construct a disciplined example of course design through hands-on performance guided by a design template apposite to each module. Those forms are contained listed in this blog in raw form, that is, they are the forms I submitted as an assignment. All corrections/additions/deletions can be seen in the progression of my work through each module. I thought it important to share that I did not turn in a perfect example on the first effort, but rather my work was progressive.
Looking back to the beginning of the class, I am proud of my efforts in Instruction Design. My passage has culminated with a solid, almost confident, skill to craft a course design.
There are instances in education where we learn how not to teach. Susan Manning is not that teacher. She is an instructor I emulate and hope to achieve her level of expertise in the future. There are many pearls of wisdom from Susan that I will carry with me. Thank you, Susan. It has been an absolute pleasure being your student.
